From your review of the propduct and my experience, 15 years so far, working in television at an audio board, I too can only hope the Elite Pro will soon come with a 48 or 96 channel mixing board.

While a bit late you might like to check out the compatability between the X-FI series and the top end speakers from Creative.

Neither the Gigaworks or the Megaworks are fully compatible. The linkage between the external console and the subwoofer is not supported (only in the lower and less power speaker systems).

This means that you MUST have the speaker remote connected to the subwoofer rather than rely on the soundcard controlling the sound volume in its own right.

Creative Support have told me that this is the case with both Creative's 7.1 & 5.1 speaker systems.

No solution is yet available

Bought the Xtrememusic version for $99 (CAN). I wanted to try out the ASIO 2.0 performance, and see if the card can do ASIO capable bitperfect SPDIF out.

Basically, I will be using this card in a digital music server / digital tri-amp system.

Well, I yanked out my M-Audio Revolution 7.1 (no ASIO SPDIF) and popped in the XFI. ASIO / SPDIF works extremely well. My external crossover (Behringer DCX2496) sounds better than ever.

Using two "Camcorder" A/V cables, I used a DSP based crossover and tried out the analog outputs.

In a word, amazing. I defy anyone to find a better sounding, more functional card for $99 anywhere on the planet. I tried out (and returned to the store) Audigy and Extigy products - because both required use of the Windows Kmixer.

The XFI is in a whole new league. Hats off Creative.

Cheers,
Presto

X-fi
I read about clicks and pops, well even an old London City did not Click and Pop, next creative talks about THX let me tell you that THX is based on Re-equalizion from any given soundtrack, the low frequency for example from 2 - 47 hz will be send to the Center so that the build in base manager can pick it up, the so called Clear Sound will be curved down from 10 to 14 Khz down and flat at 18 - 20 Khz, The main speakers are set to wide, The rear left and right are set to none wide, the rear center at 0, the Left and richt wall speakers are set to inverted, the front center also to 0, the Lfe output will be set at the given compression, home use 80 hz, Dollby Digital 120 Hz, DTS 116 Hz. Now do you get my drift. Any card what even is trying to change that sound spectrum in any given way ain't THX and there is much more, the Audigy2 ZS had a better spectrum in this range, maybe not so clear in high tones, but why not using some compressors and you have the same as what creative is doing, not everybody is playing a game, guess that is the only thing they can think about and even than, think people its all a market setup.

There is no known patch. But here is a quick fix. That is if your not using these ports for anything. Open up the play control panel by double clicking on your speaker in the system tray and make sure "Auxilary 2" and "Line-In 2/Mic2" are muted. Thats it!!

if i use the SBDIF(Digita Out) and connect it to my Onkyo receiver none of the sound card features work. this is the same i am doing with my SB live value sound card.

So in what way will Xfi make a difference with me if i am using to connect to my onkyo amp, none of the software effects of the card is going to work.
