I personally don't like HDDs. If I drop this I'm screwed compared to when I drop a USB Flash drive, I'm usually okay.

Today is nonsense 1 inch HDD. But in the past was marvellous, the price/GB was very good compared with flash memory. I have 2 Microdrive(Compact flash) from that era, still serve me well.

Yeah, it just doesn't make sense to have small HDDs in a USB storage application. (While it may have a lower price/GB than memory based, it is a solution that has moving parts). Its $30 Aussie Dollars cheaper than an equivalent sized 8GB USB Flash stick.
Moving parts = Less reliable, vulnerable to failure if solution is abused (dropped onto a hard surface, etc).
I guess this solution could be useful for specific scenarios like for swap space.
(Then again, it would be smarter to keep an eye on how you use your system and buy enough RAM so you wouldn't need swap to begin with!) :)

What about other portable HD's?
I have a two year old WD Passport with 40 GB of space and I prefer this in respect to USB drives in certain ways.
To elaborate, I would be interested in low cost USB drives with space over 8+ GB, low-profile dimensions, & a protective cover that contains (i.e. restrains) the cap for purchase.
Personally I think the flash voyager is overpriced, bulky, (ugly :D), and with a cap prone to loss.
