Seems like Intel is starting to feel threatened by Barcelona.

As always, Intel systems never scale to several hundreds of processors like AMD systems. Since AMD has an integrated memory controller, the bus does not get congested. AMD's Hypertransport bus provides a cheaper system and more flexibility for the motherboard manufacture to place the chipset further away from the processor. The Intel 7300 chipset will be very expensive because of ~2025 pins. Sure FB-DIMM can read and write at the same time, but each processor have to share their time of accessing the memory.

This new chipset design might be appealing, but I suggest wait until Barcelona comes out.
