Were you unable to get Seagate 7200.10 in? because i was looking forward to comparing western digital SE16 and seagate barracuda 7200.10, when i saw the title of the review.

sorry to say, but the best drives regarding price right now are the 300 and even 500 GB versions...

320GB is the least expensive now beating out 500GB by a mere 1 cent per GB and with Maxtor now being owned by Seagate this review is pretty pointless now

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

This massive review is extremely helpful. There is plenty of market space left for 250GB drives. And after doing my own research, prior to seeing this article, I built several raid systems with quad WD2500KS drives. It is comforting to see these results from XBit. Both confirming my impressions of the drives so far and that I made a good choice for these boxes.

I hate people that comment on these article just to hear themselves.

So,

just out of curiosity: Who is the Winner?

I mean, your reviews are great, but how about just giving away places like other sites do. I can't find who performed best overall after reading the conclusion 3 times. And thats a point of a review: Knowing who performed best in it's class.

I to am disappointed that the ST3250410AS single platter 250GB wasn't in the review. Major review sites always jump all over the 750GB and 1TB drives as they are released but few if any look at the latest iteration of HDs for those who don't have massive video and audio collections on their system.

I also wondered why there are only old Seagate drives in there. I can't actually find somewhere to buy anything older than a 7200.10 250Gb drive over here!

Where's the ST3250410AS? (Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 w/ single platter). These have some pretty high specs last I looked (110MB/sec max, 80MB sustained IIRC)

For some reason the introduction of the review was almost cut. This is just the _first_ part of a roundup, and all the new models will be reviewed soon. Part 2 will cover 24 drives not present in part 1, including new one-platter Seagates and Samsung. Stay tuned!
