It may be so that only 22 tracks on average were sold per iPod, but that was when users had to pay $1 per song. If one got to download all the songs one wanted for a fixed price that was already paid when purchasing the player, there would be much more downloading. ;-)

I do not care. I have my main library in LOSSLESS. Anything else does not cut it. I would never purchase or rent any songs that are not lossless. With my main library being lossless, I can re encode it to whatever quality I want...

Well, I'm pretty sure EU will get the shaft as always.

Delayed and different releases making iTunes not able to compete with Piratebay.

I hope they can pull this off at a reasonable price that doesn’t screw musicians; I don’t have much sympathy for the record companies (what a quaint term).

In the UK a Napster subscription that also supports mobile players is £15 a month which seems way too much for casual music listeners. I still think £10 a month for the Napster service that is PC based only is good value especially as it supports 3 PCs. I suppose there’s nothing from stopping you from sharing the subscription with 2 friends which makes it loose change.
If you are ‘naughty’ you can always transcode the Napster 192kb WMA files to MP3 using Total Recorder for a minimal loss of quality.
