When I see these things I start to wonder how an older graphics card would compare if it was made at 40/45nm with edram L2/L3 on the die verus a newer gpu. Like taking a Nvidia 7900 and shrinking it down give it some cache so it hits memory less, just how much of a benfit would it give vs adding more processing units. GPU are at a point where the memory interface is becoming an issue, and only solution seems to be add faster ram with higher latencies. I can see this being a problem when wanting to use the GPU as a DSP/Math processor.

Even Northbridge will need start having cache soon with the faster I/O interconnects. How can a Northbridge keep up when it has to do USB 3.0, SLI, raid, feed info to 2 processors.
