They need to come down in price for the "players", and they have to get a lot faster. People are frustrated with how they work because the buying public now aren't the "enthusiasts" they are the picky spenders. They'll still spend money but they want performance for that money.
Secondly, at current price levels, the models will have to record to be competitive. The current play only models have to get cheaper though, that is the first step.
