Those are backplates for the cooling blocks on the underside of the board. They are there to mount the cooling blocks securely, not to act as heatsinks.

It's hard to take this article seriously when the author is unclear about details like this.

My 2c.

What ?! SLi is not widely spread this days ?! And who copied who, intel copied nvidia with xmp or nvidia copied intel with EPP?!Everybody knows the answer.Ii think it's pretty clear that you are not going to give positive feedback for nvidia since you rly hate them.It just sound like ATi fanboyism.

Remember the days when overclocking was all about buying relatively cheap parts and pushing them to their limits? I'm all for building a system on a nice base but $350 motherboards known for having rampant data corruption issues (Going back to the 680i mind you) is just ridiculous. You have to draw the line somewhere and I'd say anything over $200-$230, the price performance ratio is seriously out of whack.

The "heatsinks" on the rear of the board are there to ensure the heatsinks on the top of the board remain in contact with the VRM's and other components.

When you have a large tension based heatsink on the top and nothing on the bottom the boards bow, potentially creating a space between the heatsink and the VRM. So the bottom "heatsink" or back plate, tries to prevent this :P

Thanks for the update, but based on the SLI MBO's past history and this MBO being not proven "Good" I will not be buyong one for my new system.

Hello,

I just purchased this board and 2 1GB Corsair Dominator 2000Mhz DDR3 modules.

According to Corsair tech support, they claim I won't see that speed with a Q6600 2.4Ghz cpu, but I'm not sure.

I plan to increase the FSB modestly to get to 3 Ghz, with the memory linked, what speeds should I expect, also enabling the PCI 2.0 spec in bios?

Thanks for advice!
