AMD has finally defined what is supposed to be Thorton processors. Apparently, there will be only three versions of such chips and all of them will be entry-level models.

As this page over AMD.com web-site tells us, there are Athlon XP 2000+, Athlon XP 2200+ and Athlon XP 2400+ with 256KB of L2 and 266MHz EV-6 FSB based on the core known as Thorton. At this time there are no indications about 2600+ model, firstly revealed by certain mainboard makers. Presumably, AMD decided not to introduce another processor with 2600+ model number and 256KB cache and switch this model to powerful Barton core and 333MHz bus.

AMD refers to Athlon XP “Thorton” processors as Athlon XP Model 10 with 256KB L2 cache.
