It seems to be the end of the road for Pentium III based CPUs, while the line of Socket 370 Celerons will from now consist of only two models: Celeron 1.3 and 1.4GHz. Basically, it is no surprise that Intel has at last discontinued its Pentium III, as these processors have not been promoted by the company for some time already. The chip-maker even refused to offer those CPUs as a cheap alternative for its Pentium 4 processors. Meanwhile, the life of Socket 370 appears to be a little bit luckier: the semiconductor-giant will continue to supply two remaining products until this year end as a solution for low-end personal computers of sub-$600 price. After that, Celeron 1.3GHz will be discontinued, while the 1.4GHz version`s market presence will be prolonged for at least another quarter.
Intel does not longer supply boxed versions of Pentium III 1.2 and 1.13GHz as well as Celeron 1A and 1.1A GHz. The closest partners of this processor-maker can still order tray versions of the CPUs mentioned until October the 18th.
