Due to a post here, we managed to learn a bit more about the nominal voltages and heat dissipation rates of the upcoming Athlon XP processors with 2400+ and 2600+ ratings, which are due this Wednesday. So, here you are:
  • Athlon XP 2600+ working at 2133MHz will be designed to support 1.65V nominal voltage and will dissipate max. 68.3W.
  • Athlon XP 2400+ will be available in two versions: with the nominal voltage equal to 1.6V and 1.65V. The heat dissipations will make 65.3W and 68.3W accordingly.
In this respect I would like to remind you that the maximum heat dissipation of Athlon XP 2200+ selling now is 67.8W. This way, the advantages of the new core revision, which will be used in Athlon XP 2400+ and 2600+ are evident. Once again a slight redesign allowed AMD to squeeze more out of the existing processor core.
