Silicon Integrated Systems issued a press-release telling us that the company is in process of negotiations with Intel for the new-generation chipset license, right after its arch-rival VIA Technologies announced lawsuit settlement and cross-licensing agreements with Intel (see April 7, 2003 news-story).

SiS claims that it expects to have final result of its talks with Santa Clara, California-based CPU maker in a short period of time, alluding that soon the chipset designer will be able to manufacture and sell chipsets with 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus support.

Currently VIA already has a nice and straight portfolio of chipsets with 800MHz PSB (see February 5, 2003 news-story), while SiS has not unveiled anything both officially or unofficially. I am pretty sure that the company can still roll-out 800MHz QPB-supporting products shortly, however, it will take some time to make and market them and if SiS does not hasten, it will deliver core-logic products with 800MHz bus only a number of weeks after VIA Technologies, who has been sampling some of its advanced chipsets for a while.
