We have learnt from a report that ATI Technologies’ next-generation RS300 chipset with integrated graphics core will make its debut at Computex Taipei 2003 show in early June. Although there were concerns about the exhibition because of the SARS, recently the promoters of Computex told us that the conference will take place from the 2nd to the 6th of June, 2003. Returning back to ATI, we can expect several mainboards makers to announce their products based on the new chipsets from the Canadian company right after the launch.

Code-named RS300 chipset supports Intel Pentium 4 Northwood and Prescott processors with the Hyper-Threading technology and 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus. Following the latest trends, ATI’s new RADEON IGP supports dual-channel memory configurations using PC2700 or PC3200 modules. ATI will incorporate the RV250 (namely RADEON 9000) graphics core in this chip, hence, expect relatively high graphics performance and DirectX 8.1 support from the part. As all the latest core-logic devices, this one will provide AGP 8x. Also RS300VE, a simplified version of the RS300 with only one memory channel, will reportedly be launched.

Unofficial sources said earlier this year that MSI was greatly interested in integrated core-logic products from ATI, so, the Markham, Ontario-based company may receive quite a lot of orders initially on its forthcoming RADEON IGP-series, especially keeping in mind the fact that previously ATI’s chipsets were adopted by various contract mainboard makers, such as FIC and PC Partner to name a few.
