The Big Four Taiwanese mainboard makers reported their sales results recently. A Taiwanese web-site DigiTimes managed to get the details first and published online, so, now we all are able to discuss the information. Unfortunately, we cannot consider May as a successful timeframe to leading mainboard makers since only ASUS performed really well, whereas other companies’ results were not brilliant.
ASUS shipped 1.89 million mainboards in May, exceeding its own records and beating market expectations. If we add ASRock shipments to figures provided by ASUS, we will receive astonishing 2.1 million mainboards supplied by ASUS and its subsidiary in one month. Besides, ASUS shipped more PlayStation2 consoles for Sony, who began boosting its orders recently, just like Microsoft did with XBOX. ASUS’ combined revenue is up 0.8% month-on-month and is about $340.83 million.
ECS (Elitegroup Computer Systems) shipped 1.390 million mainboards, up 20.9% from April. Its notebook business suffered from an 8.4% decline, as a result, its sales were sequentially lower. ECS posted revenue of $135.20 million in May.
MSI shipped 1.05 million of mainboards and about 600 thousands of graphics cards. MSI also reported sales decline of 4.7% last month. Revenue for May achieved $124.97 million, but the company expects them to rebound in June and July, after the company ships its extraordinary Mega PC barebone.
Gigabyte Technology quite often declines to report its monthly sales results and as a consequence we have to be content with estimates provided by analysts. Unofficial sources said Gigabyte’s mainboards shipments have fell 5.9% to 800 thousands units. Nevertheless, the company posted $67.4 million revenue, up 6.20% month-on-month.
