ATI Technologies today announced that it has agreed to an extension to the current patent cross-license agreement with Intel Corporation. As part of this extension, ATI has also secured rights to build integrated graphics processors that support Intel's Pentium 4 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus.

The terms of the deal are strictly confidential, as a result, we can tell you nothing about them yet.

If this is a cross-licensing agreement, then Intel also receives something from ATI Technologies. Unfortunately, we do not know what Santa Clara, California-based semiconductor giant gets from Markham, Ontario-based graphics firm yet. Furthermore, the extension of the agreement may also mean that ATI will be able to produce chipsets for Intel processors also beyond 2005, the right ATI did not have under terms of the initial January 10, 2001 cross-licensing agreement.

One thing we can definitely point out from the news-story is that ATI’s recently-announced RADEON 9100 IGP core-logic with RADEON 9200-class integrated graphics now can officially support 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus.
