Soltek today announced its new stylish mainboard this time based on recently rolled-out i848P core-logic. The mainboard boasts with Soltek’s UV technology and allows support of both outdated and upcoming Socket 478 processors. In order to attract more attention, the device is made on red PCB with yellow and violet slots.

The SL-848P-L mainboard can work with Intel Pentium 4 or Celeron in Socket 478 form-factor processors with 400, 533 or 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus and the Hyper-Threading technology, but will not be too fast with the latest chips because it only works with up to 2GB of single-channel PC2100, PC2700 or PC3200 memory. Certainly, the mainboard may become a nice solution for mainstream or office computers where performance is not highly required, but will be not a good buy for gamers or enthusiasts. However, to address more types of end-users, the SL-848P-L also features a number of overclocking capabilities, such as easy BIOS adjustments of PSB settings, Vcore Settings, AGP Voltage, DIMM Voltage, and CPU Multiplier settings.

Soltek’s i848P provides all necessary I/O capabilities, including 5 PCI slots, support for 2 Parallel ATA-33/66/100 and 2 Serial ATA-150 ports, 8 USB 2.0 ports as well as 6-channel AC’97 audio.

Pricing and availability information was not touched upon at press time, but you should probably expect the device to emerge for sale in two or three weeks.
