Silicon Integrated Systems announced its sales results for August 2003 and for January 2003 – August 2003 period. The company claims that its sales gradually increased and year-over-year improvement is just three percent points lower than 25%.

Based on the company’s preliminary estimates, its August sales were $39.87 million, a 4.7% increase over August 2002, and an increase of 12.5% over July 2003. The 2003 year-to-date revenue is estimated at $328.86 million, a 22.1% increase over the same period a year ago.

Keeping in mind the information about improved sales from Intel, AMD, VIA and other suppliers of chips for personal computers we should not be surprised with SiS’ results. The company has been boosting its revenues for a number of consecutive quarters already and uptick in demand for PCs also influenced its sales.

Just like arch-rival VIA, Silicon Integrated Systems is not offering any expensive core-logic products at the moment. The situation is expected to change in October when both Taiwanese chipset designers release their dual-channel supporting platforms for Intel Pentium 4 processors as well as a number of products for AMD Athlon 64 family. Hence, we may expect further revenue increases from SiS, but not so sure about VIA, who has quite a lot of chances to improve its state, but is continuing to loose its market shares to its competitors, primarily SiS and NVIDIA.
