VIA Technologies has posted a significant sales improvement in June 2004 over the same period last year. At the same time the company also boosted its revenues over May 2004 figure, which may be a sign of VIA’s come-back as a successful chipset maker.
Revenues of Taipei, Taiwan-based designer of chipsets for personal computers achieved last month approximately $46.98 million, which is a 15.31% over May 2004 figure of $40.75 million (note that VIA reports revenues in Taiwanese dollars, which means that the in US dollars figures depend on exchange rate) and is also more than 38.36% above June 2003 sales results.
It is remarkable that aggregated sales for 2004 are only 9.40% lower compared to revenues for six months passed last year.
VIA Technologies usually does not comment on its sales results and does not indicate which of the factors may have driven the core-logic developer’s revenue up or down.
In June 2004 VIA solidified its market positions with commercial shipments of VIA K8T800 Pro chipset intended for AMD’s latest 64-bit microprocessors. Additionally, the company continued shipping its chipsets for Intel Pentium 4, Intel Celeron, AMD Athlon XP and AMD Athlon 64 central processing units.
