Less than a week ago we pointed out that SiS quietly added the Hyper-Threading technology support to their B-revision of SiS655 core-logic after unveiling the chipset well ago (see this news-story). We doubted that the company had already started to deliver the chipset, however, today DigiTimes web-site reported that that currently SiS supplies its partners with A0 version of the 655 North Bridge that cannot take advantage of the Hyper-Threading technology.

By this moment AOpen, ASUS, Gigabyte and ECS have either demonstrated or started to sell their SiS655 powered mainboards, the source claims. Only ASUS said that they would not sell SiS655-based mainboards without proper Hyper-Threading support, so, all the rest do not actually take advantage of this powerful feature at the moment. Of course, there are not a lot of you to get a faster-than-a-thought Pentium4 processor 3.06GHz now, but probably after some time you may want to upgrade your system and Hyper-Threading support will become a nice advantage eventually.

Since SiS is generally known as a supplier of cheap solutions, SiS655 core-logic should have allow the company to enter the new market of high-end desktops, since it can achieve high performance, being cheaper compared to other offerings. Unfortunately, the issue with the Hyper-Threading will definitely not help the newcomer to gain popularity.
