Sales of the world’s second largest designer of chipsets for personal computers achieved last month approximately $41.22 million, which is a 9.77% over April 2004 figure of $45.68 million, but is a 23.45% increase over April 2003 figure of $33.39 million.

Typically VIA Technologies does not comment on its sales results and does not indicate what factor may drive the core-logic developer’s revenue up or down.

In May 2004 the Taipei, Taiwan-based chipset firm continued its rough competition against rivalling Intel Corporation, Silicon Integrated Systems and NVIDIA Corporation who are ramping up the shipments of previous- and next-generation offerings along with VIA Technologies.

It still remains to see whether VIA manages to achieve better or in-line sales results with last year’s figure, or the company’s revenue will drop. Since the year 2002 VIA’s sales have been dipping annually.
