VIA Technologies, the world’s second largest chipset designer today reported their financial results for December and for the whole year. The annual result revealed that Taipei, Taiwan-based chipset developer lost about one fourth of the revenue due to their inability to sell Intel Pentium 4 intended core-logic legally and overall market conditions in 2002. That is not bad at all for them as in general this was quite a tough year for the company. Net sales for December 2002 reached approximately $53.42 million. On a sequential basis, this monthly sales revenues represents a 20.17% decrease over November's figure of $66.92 million and also 27% less compared to October’s $72.777 million. The fourth quarter revenue of $193.19 million represents a growth of 12% over the third quarter revenue of $172.78 million. In comparison, VIA’s net sales for the second, third and fourth quarter of 2001 were almost equal, so, we can notice several positive trends in the company’s policy that took place in 2002.
Here is the table that represents VIA’s financial results for the year 2002 and 2001.<%BANNER[article]%>

| December | 53.420 | 66.037 | -19.11% |
| Total | 725.177 | 986.037 | -26.52% |
Pay your attention to the fact that during the four last month of 2002 the year-on-year difference in net sales was not so high as in the first half of the year, thus, there is another proof of VIA’s positive trends.
For the whole year 2002 VIA earned $725.177 million, 26.52% less than a year before. Unfortunately, the company does not declare any income, gross margin or other specific figures about their financial results, and that is why we cannot point out the reasons that caused their revenues to rise: is it a low-price model or aggressive marketing campaigns or maybe advanced specifications of their products?
