Intel reconsidered some of its prices on processors intended for mobile computers today, as we predicted last week. The price-cuts are very moderate, so, expect more price slashed to happen in May or June in this particular segment.
Basically speaking, Intel only lowered the prices of its Pentium 4-M and Mobile Celeron processors based on the NetBurst architecture, meanwhile prices on all the other chips, including Pentium M, older ULV/LV Celeron and Pentium III CPUs remained unchanged. In fact, price cuts on the “Portability” processors are not really aggressive.

Pentium 4 2.0GHz | $198 | 18% |
Pentium 4 1.90GHz | $198 | - |
Intel Mobile Celeron Pricing, effective April 20, 2003 | ||

Just like in case of desktop microprocessors earlier today (see this news-story), I do not compare prices of Intel’s and AMD’s CPUs at this time because the latter company slashes its prices tomorrow and there is no sense to make any conclusions about the pricing today.
