Apple, a leading maker of portable digital media players, is rumoured to unveil new versions of its iPod players on the 9th of September, 2008, according to various media reports. There is no information concerning the changes, but they may include both increased capacities as well as revamped design.

According to a news-story by News.com web-site, Apple invited media to event called “Let’s Rock” on September 9, 2008, in San Francisco, California. It is believed that the press is invited to a presentation of new Apple iPod portable digital media players, however, no official comments or suggestions have been made so far.

It is widely expected that Apple iPhone nano player will get higher capacity flash module as well as new design, which is similar to that of first-generation iPhone nano, but with larger screen, which would enable better video viewing experience. Besides, it is also rumoured that Apple iPod shuffle will get more storage space at the same price-point. Actual changes for Apple iPod classic and iPod touch are unclear, but the most natural modification involve larger storage and/or sleeker design.

Earlier this year rumours transpired that Apple was working on a subscription-based model for its iTunes music store. Potentially, this might substantially affect revenues of the online store since a lot of users would prefer to pay once and they get unlimited access to music tracks available from Apple.

September launch of new iPod music players will allow Apple to ramp up production of new devices in time for holiday season, when digital music players from the company become especially popular among consumers.

Apple made no comments regarding the news-story.
