Intel’s upcoming Intel Developer Forum in Spring will be concentrated on further “platformization” of computing and will focus on advances destined to accelerate industry ability to develop new technologies in such key areas as business and enterprise mobile Internet clients, the digital home, communications infrastructure and R&D.

Intel Eyes Platforms

“IDF attendees benefit by gaining insight into new technologies and architectures so that they can create and innovate product offerings more effectively and successfully. The 130 hours of keynotes, sessions and labs at the San Francisco forum will focus on Intel’s platform approach that will empower the industry to capture new markets and new usage models opportunities,” said IDF General Manager Rob Chapman.

The forthcoming Intel’s Developer Forum events are entitled “Tomorrow’s Platforms: Your Possibilities Unleashed,” emphasizing that the events will focus not on building blocks, but on the actual foundations for desktops, servers and notebooks.

IDF Spring Lineup

The IDF Spring series kicks off March 1-3, 2005, in San Francisco. With a worldwide focus, IDF brings together developers, business executives and technology influencers and decision makers to hear and discuss the vision and newest technologies from Intel Corporation and other industry leaders. Following San Francisco are forums in Tokyo, April 7-8; Taipei, Taiwan, April 11-12; and Beijing, April 14-15. IDF returns to Novosibirsk, Russia in April, and debuts in Cairo in May; exact dates to be announced shortly. The Cairo event marks the first IDF in Africa or the Middle East.

Intel Chief Executive Officer Craig Barrett will deliver the March 1, 2005, opening keynote in San Francisco. That same day attendees will hear Abhi Talwalkar (vice president, general manager, Enterprise Platforms Group) and William Swope (vice president, general manager, Software and Solutions Group) discuss enterprise and software solutions, followed by a keynote on communications infrastructure by Sean Maloney (executive vice president, general manager, Intel Communications Group).

Day 2 keynotes will be led with Louis Burns and Bill Siu (vice presidents, general managers, Desktop Platforms Group) discussing the digital home and digital office, followed by Anand Chandrasekher (vice president, general manager, Mobile Platforms Group) covering mobility. The final day's keynote will feature Pat Gelsinger (senior vice president and chief technology officer) speaking on R&D discoveries and industry trends.
