Samsung, following its tradition of supporting a bunch of different standards simultaneously today officially announced that they started production of the first engineering samples of DDR333 and DDR400 SDRAM memory chips intended for use in system memory (PC2700 and PC3200 DIMM modules, 8bit chips). Besides, they also produced the first samples of the new DDR700 intended for the graphics market (graphics cards, 32bit chips).

The interesting thing about it is that Samsung is going to start mass production of DDR333 chips only in August-September this year. it is exactly at that time that Samsung believes they will be demanded in mass quantities. In fact, this is a pretty strange supposition especially bearing in mind that SiS645 chipset already supports PC2700 DDR SDRAM, and soon VIA KT333 will come out, also supporting this memory. However, such a giant company as Samsung can be pretty happy with the "limited quantities" till autumn. As for the mass production of other announced memory chips, nothing has been revealed so far.
