Analysts from the South Korea based memory maker Samsung Electronics predict that the company will expand its market share up to 33% by the end of this year, since Samsung plans to sign more contracts with the biggest vendors of telecommunication appliances. Currently the company occupies about 27% of DRAM market, so, this year the largest supplier of memory will grow another 6%.

Starting from 1992, the company manages to acquire about 26.99% of DRAM market. The company is very confident in its future and plans to remain the number one for the decade to come. Samsing already signed numerous contracts with the leading suppliers of communication equipment and personal computers, including Nokia, Cisco, Alcatel and Legend. Since the market of DRAM constantly grows, Samsung will continue to sell more and more memory and get even stronger.

In fact, the South Korean semiconductor manufacturer currently supply about 70-80% of RDRAM memory and about 40% of DDR SDRAM chips. The former figure can be a bit lowered, so to say, since RDRAM share now decreases substantially and other makers of such chips or modules exit this business, while Samsung does not (see this news-story), as a result, the share of Samsung may be significantly higher than stated. According to the company’s representatives, Samsung will also expand on the SDRAM market from 30% to 33% this year.

The main rivals of the South Korea based memory manufacturer are far behind the leader. Hynix Semiconductor maintains 14.47% of DRAM market, while the US based Micron Technology occupies 19.06%.
