If its only the interface one should think it shouldn't be heavy enough to need waste power on using the 2nd GPU.
But if gaming with SLI does not work as intended thats a pretty major flaw.

Microsoft Windows Vista Does Not Take Advantage of Multiple GPUs – Microsoft.
Microsoft Releases Fix for Multi-GPU Technologies on Windows Vista
[07/23/2007 06:09 AM]According to a description provided by Microsoft, graphics performance of a Windows Vista-based personal computer that uses a graphics card with multiple GPUs “seems to indicate that only a single GPU is being used”. The company also says that the same happens on computers that have multiple graphics cards.
The problem, Microsoft claims, occurs because the operating system does not forward driver-render requests to the secondary GPU. However, it is interesting to note that ATI CrossFire and Nvidia SLI technologies do work on Windows Vista, according to claims by ATI, graphics product group of Advanced Micro Devices, and Nvidia Corp. Additional details were not available at press time.
X-bit labs’ performance testing lab has not experienced many issues with ATI CrossFire multi-GPU technology, however, there are a number of issues with Nvidia’s SLI, which are related to drivers.
Neither ATI, nor Nvidia commented on the news-story.
