Diamond Multimedia said on Thursday that its graphics cards that were claimed to be faulty are fully functional. The company said that the issue was caused by false information spread by one of its former employees.

According to Bruce Zaman, a spokesman for Diamond, only 188 graphics cards based on ATI Radeon 3800-series of graphics processors appeared to be defective, not as high as 15 thousand as previously reported. In fact, according to Mr. Zaman, the whole issue was caused by inappropriate resistors that were present on graphics cards. The representative, however, did not speak on the matter of poor soldering that was reported earlier.

In fact, the official for Diamond said that the whole scandal was caused by an ex-employee, who decided to make negative publicity for Diamond Multimedia. In fact, this former engineer was among people responsible for the situation, the company said.

“The source of this article, after agreeing in writing and verbally to not denigrate their employment with Diamond or divulge any company data or proprietary information such as sources, customers and internal procedures did exactly that,” Mr. Zaman stated.

Based on words of Diamond, it appears that a former employee decided to create a story line that was exaggerated.

Even though the concerns of this well-known supplier of graphics cards are clear, for some reason the company did not disclose how an end-user could determine a potentially faulty graphics card that is already installed into her/his computer.
